According to a recent study by I Fly First Class, JetBlue ranked the best in economy class passenger satisfaction in 2012. The majority of large U.S. airlines, however, need to step up cabin staff services, the study determined. American Airlines CEO Tom Horton announced on Wednesday that the airline will be adding 2,500 pilots to its ranks over the next five years. The figure includes both new and recalled pilots.
Horton made this announcement in a letter to employees in which he talked about the progress the company is making while going through Chapter 11 reorganization. The company will also add 1,500 new flight attendants over the next year. One of the main reasons for the immediate need for so many flight attendants is because many of the airline’s current flight attendants have taken up the airline’s voluntary buyouts.
