Neptune Retires Some P2V Neptunes
Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 29, 2012
Neptune Aviation Services will retire the first two of its seven operational P2V Neptunes by the start of the 2013 wildfire season, as the aerial firefighter phases in its growing fleet of former commercial jets, modified as air tankers.
The Missoula-based company, which has been operating the specially configured BAe 146 jets since 2011, currently has three, with two more slated to enter the fleet during the first half of 2013. The four-engine jets, all relatively low-cycle, were procured from airlines and leasing companies to replace Neptune Aviation’s former US Navy Neptune patrol aircraft. The TSA has partnered with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) as well as U.S. air carriers and has started a program with selected airports in the USA and Canada ( and is widening out to more airports) to allow frequent flying passengers to go pass security lines by creating a “fast lane”, as it were. This will allow the selected passengers to leave laptops and toiletries in their bags and keep shoes on as a privileged Precheck passenger. Certain elite passengers Read more text

InterWorking Labs Provides Standard for Internet Performance
InterWorking Labs Provides Standard for Internet Performance
Scotts Valley, CA (PRWEB) September 26, 2012
In the new cloud based network computing paradigm, networked applications and devices may not perform in the cloud as they perform in the local area network. Evaluating this performance prior to deployment is essential to guarantee the success of a cloud based initiative. The question is — how does the IT staff evaluate the performance?
Field trials provide limited information because the full range of possible adverse network conditions are typically not encountered (e.g. network congestion, outages). Network emulators introducing packets drops, delays, etc. provide some useful data, but their lack of true Internet/WAN fidelity means the results are neither reliable nor repeatable.
