NEW YORK — Authorities say a New Jersey man has been arrested after he tried to get on a plane at New York’s LaGuardia Airport with a switchblade knife in his carry-on bag.
A spokeswoman for the Transportation Security Administration says a TSA agent detected the knife Friday morning and alerted the Port Authority police.
Police say 25-year-old Nicholas Casci of Colts Neck, N.J. was arrested on a weapons-possession charge. He is awaiting arraignment. No information on an attorney was immediately available.
Casci was trying to board a flight to Denver.
Weapons including switchblades are not permitted in carry-on baggage.
